Happy Easter!
to those who celebrate
Happy Easter Egg Hunt, Jelly Bean, Cadbury Egg Day to those who kinda sorta celebrate. Happy Sunday (where a lot of things are closed) to those who don’t.
It’s times like this when Christianity seems to be the focus of the day for so many people I ponder deep thoughts. Many of them could probably be answered if I had gone to church as a kid. Not just by reading Christopher Moore’s Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal.
The one religious thing that keeps popping up confusing me is this one- if the Old Testament is dealing with the stuff that was believed and taught before Jesus Christ came on the scene… Why are many Christians still quoting from it? Admittedly they pick and choose what they want to follow. Why is it even still around except for reference to those quaint old times & wrath of God stuff? Yes, it’s a history text to some but… There’s that scene from The West Wing that got me on this train of thought.
It seems that so many “Christians” aren’t “Christ-Like” then again, I’m just a simple agnostic who believes you should treat people the way you would want to be treated. The 12th Scout Law- “A Scout is Reverent” - you respect other’s religious beliefs even if you don’t personally believe them. Although I really don’t think the Jesus I keep hearing about would agree with many of his “followers.” Just read Mark Millar’s American Jesus to get one writer’s idea of how Christ’s return would go down.
I do hope everyone has I nice day and all the Peeps you care to eat. I guess I should go watch The Ten Commandments now.
