Happy Holidaze! The Year in Review
2025 was a roller coaster ride on so many levels

This is the time of year where people send out their nondenominational winter holiday cards and notes about all the wonderful things that happened to them and their kids over the year just in case you weren’t following them on Social Media or the Almighty Algorithm did not let you see their posts and photos. This year has been rather chaotic and sad, but fortunately Whimventures helped in keeping me oblivious to most of the crud being reported, or being spun out there in the real world.
I look at what we did and part me (the humble midwesterner) is embarrassed and thinks I’m bragging. That’s not what I want to convey, I’m sorry if you see it through that lens. In brief- Sue and I did a lot of stuff! Also a lot of stuff happened to us. If you want the short version there it is- “like, subscribe, and share.” If you want more, details below.
Whimventure upon Whimventure
Looking back at this busy year it seems like many of the things happened years, not just short months ago. I had to look at photos from this year to figure things out. A visit to Los Angeles to see my dad kicked off the year. Lots of drives to various places, on a whim, to see this exhibit or something weird- Ray Harryhausen, The Billy Ireland, Alex Ross, and trolls just to name a few. None of these photos are in chronological order- "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey whimey stuff."
The big trip was Europe which encompassed the geocaching event London Calling, a day at Disneyland Paris, Normandy, and the Lake Como Comic Arts Festival. The result of which was meeting a lot of wonderful people, seeing some amazing sights and starting to draw comics for PinPoint magazine. Oh, and we saw a troll in France. 😁
This trip required me to resign from the LEGO Store since they only allow 21 days between shifts and I was out 22 days. 😱 So I started working at Comic Carnival which has been a bit more flexible. Yes, I’m retired, but I still like to feel like I’m contributing or at least trying to offset my frivolous expenses.
Sue had a bit of a change up in work also- after her boss of 10 years lost his battle with Leukemia, the company closed down in the Fall. Fortunately, one of her coworkers started a new venture and she’s working there doing the same job with pretty much the same clients. All remote so she’s home. Although she did hit a few conferences this year.
And Still More Whimventures

and a bit of Troll Hunting…
Yup- We’re keeping busy along with the boys…

2025 By The Numbers
I made 91 posts not including this one. My goal was one per week.
I drew a whopping six comic strips this year! Gotta work on those numbers. 🙄
According to Project-GC I found 212 actual caches, according to GC.com I found 738 which includes Adventure Lab stages. My goal was 365. I ended up with 4,657 finds as of this post. We won’t talk about Sue’s 1,853 (including Adventure Labs) for a total of 15,628.
I found 19 Thomas Dambo Trolls in 2025 bringing my total troll intake to more than 19. Sue has found a couple more, but who’s counting?
I don’t know how many comics I read, but then again, that’s something for another post.
Nothing much planned for 2026 for now. A few repeats from this year - just because you check it off your bucket list doesn’t mean you can’t do it again. Sue and I hope your year has been good and your 2026 will be even better.

Skål, friends! See you in the new year...
2025 was indeed an exciting year for Bruce and Sue. And we enjoyed Bruce's weekly and then some updates! It'slike every week they are off on another 'half of us is retired so let's throw the dart on the map and see where we'll go!' May 2026 be equally as exciting and both of you enjoy good health and take great care of those purring critters and Cecil!
