This Week In Comics & Pet Philosophy
My Pull List (and stuff I forgot about) for December 11, 2025
I thought about grumbling about stuff, but really, while a few people think the time to air grievances is upon us, to me I’m just tired. Tired of being negative about stuff. Yes, we are facing an unknown future on the brink of disaster, but it could be worse… not much worse, but still I have a wild imagination so things always could be worse. 🤪
We are involved in a mystery of “catastrophic” proportions- It seems that we have a black cat visiting us regularly and being cat people we are concerned about its welfare as winter descends upon us. I posted photo of him on our neighborhood Facebook group. I’ve found Facebook is a bit less snarky than Nextdoor which I left during the pandemic never to look back on my choice. So there seems to be a few black cats wandering the neighborhood. We’ve determined two that have homes, but are “outdoor cats.” We aren’t sure this one that keeps coming back to us, is one that has a home. We are giving it some food when it stops by, and letting it inside to warm up. My biggest fear is finding it frozen solid at our backdoor. I’ll keep you posted if the situation changes.

You see, growing up my mother always used putting a pet outdoors as a way to remove whatever was annoying her about the pet. I believe it tended to be related to the work needed to keep the house somewhat clean while having an indoor pet. These pets tended to disappear after a while- escaping the backyard or “joining the circus.” My mom always claimed that the pets liked being outside. We lived in southern California so weather wasn’t that big of a deal. Having now had my own cats for over a decade I disagree with this approach and really think that pets (while they want some freedom) like being around people more. I know I’m not a dog person and certain breeds of dogs definitely need outside time, but still, they are part of the family and shouldn’t be thrown outside and ignored. As my mom got older she started to keep her dogs and cats inside (except for a few that were kept in the garage at night). I’m not adamant about many things, but one of those things is if you have a pet you take care of them- and for me that means they stay inside and have pretty much full run of the house. In Bailey’s case, right now, he is snoozing between my keyboard and the monitor- purring and twitching his tail. ❤️
This Week’s Comics
Diamond Distributors was late on getting their stuff to my Local Comic Shop so I’m missing a few titles I was looking forward to, but I picked up some I missed picking up last week.
Ultimate X-Men #10 - Things are starting to get weird, or at least weirder than they have been. The Children of the Atom seem to be having PR issues and the girls are are also having problems. How will all this resolve? I’m still figuring I need to take a moment a reread the previous issues to wrap my head around everything.
Welcome To The Maynard #1 - A hotel in San Francisco that caters to magical folks. Normal People can’t even see it. “Halfies” those with at least one magical person in their bloodline can. This is the setting for a crime drama and “Pip” the new bellhop is our guide into this world that James Robinson has created. J. Bones artwork is a nice style that keeps with a whimsical view and I know my whimsical.
Amazing Spider-Man #63 - Spider-Man relives his failures he confronts the latest of his 8 Deaths. All of this happens in his head while he’s on a date. What does Juggernaut have to do with all this? Oh yeah Cyttorak is involved in all this stuff.
Absolute Wonder Woman #2 - We learn about how Wonder Woman met Steve Trevor and she confronts the military in a very straight forward manner which has been posted a couple of times as a strong female protagonist taking names and not dealing with the stupid things women tend to have to deal with in the real world.
Ultimate Universe #1 - So what about Nick Fury in this crazy world created by the Maker? He’s a white guy to start, and the rest of it would give too much away.
Batman & Robin # 16 - Memento continues his reign of terror and Damian tries to grapple with his feelings as we introduce someone from Bruce Wayne’s past (when he first encountered Memento… Hmmm…
Action Comics #1079 - Oh, boy. So All the bad guys from the Phantom Zone have escaped and are having a playdate on Earth? Will the heroes of Earth be able to stop them? How?
Batman Santa Claus Silent Knight Returns #3 - More heroes lost to the power of the Knight’s sword and now Santa!?! Zatanna sends for reinforcements and a few drunk magicians try to figure out if Roscoe is one of Santas reindeer. Then we have a rhyming demon. Gosh this party is really getting going now!
