I have stated before that there are some people out there who seem to think that it is their right, no “duty” to say mean things about people.  In caching there are a few (1%) geocachers who think that their  opinion is the only correct opinion.  I recall one cacher going around and doing exactly what the Caching Curmudgeon is doing…  He would post “Needs Archived” logs on any cache that was anywhere near a business- whether he had visited the cache or not (whether he’d visited the state or not).  My favorite log of his was for a puzzle cache that he couldn’t find… He said some mean things, looking for a fight- the funny part was he had gone to the dummy coordinates and hadn’t even tried to solve the puzzle!  While he has not been very active recently I was sad to see that his attitude is still around.  This time dealing with “Challenges.”

As the story goes (stop me if you’ve heard this one) Cecil’s only successful challenge has been archived… while there were a number of people who liked it & completed it one of the first comments was “This isn’t a worthy challenge” the person who posted it was around 900 miles away from the location of the challenge… he knew nothing about the place but had decided that his opinion was so important he needed to be heard… I remember what my mother always told me when I was growing up “If you can’t say anything nice- create a webcomic/blog and rant about it!”  Maybe I didn’t hear exactly what she said…

“You know,” said Arthur, “it’s at times like this, when I’m trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space, that I really wish I’d listened to what my mother told me when I was young.”

“Why, what did she tell you?”

“I don’t know, I didn’t listen.”

  1. LOVE today’s comic! One of my faves so far. Way to incorporate current events (We are the 99%… heh), high fashion (I see that RDB hat!) and put Cecil in a semi-superhero position… can’t wait to see where this leads!! (surely a victory over the CC!!)
