This is a constant issue with Geocachers… do I release a travel bug into the wild or not?  for the most part in the United States putting anything into a cache means you will probably never see it again.  You may be able to follow its progress for a short period of time, but it will most likely vanish and never be heard from again.  Again, this isn’t always the case, but this is also why a large number of geocachers will collect geocoins and not release them into the wild.  Most cachers are not like Cecil and purposefully collect travel bugs & coins, just things happen and they get lost on the floor of the car.  Also, finding a geocache that will fit some of these things can be a challenge.  If you want to trade trackable, go to a local event!

This comic will appear in the next issue of FTF Geocacher- along with a bunch of cool articles- look for it & subscribe so you don’t miss an issue.
